Wowo campsite east sussex camping and glamping

DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?

Yes, all campers at Wowo need to book in advance. Most of the weekends between May & August sell out before the end of April. If you are looking at a bank holiday then they usually get booked up by March.

CAN I DRIVE MY CAR TO THE PITCH?

Yes you can drive your vehicle to your pitch to unload, then all vehicles are parked back in the car park at reception, a 1-3 minute walk. Other than drop off, there is no driving around the site other than dropping off and on checkout day to collect/ depart.

WHY CAN'T I BOOK 2 NIGHTS ON A FRIDAY FOR GLAMPING OPTIONS?

During school holidays the following stay options are available for glamping:
Monday for 2, 4 or 7 nights
Wednesday for 2, 5, 7 nights
Friday for 3, 5, 7 nights

WHAT ARE THE CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT TIMES?

The earliest time you can check in is 2pm.

Check out time is 11am.

If you need any other times for arrival/departure please ask us and we will do our best to accommodate.

ALL OF NEXT YEAR APPEARS TO BE SOLD OUT ALREADY?

We open bookings in October for the following year. Please join our Newsletter here to be informed.

WHAT DATE IS WOWO OPEN FROM?

We never close! The Yurts, Shepherds Huts and Geodomes are available all year, the perfect out of season retreat as they are all equipped with woodstoves to keep the winter nights warm.

As well as the glamping options Frank’s Spot is available all year for tent camping underneath the trees. The camping fields are open from 1st March to 31st October.

CAN WE BRING A CAMPERVAN OR CARAVAN?

We cannot accept any caravans, and the only campervans allowed onsite are only VW camper – transit van size and no bigger. We do not have electric hook-ups. Campervans must not be any longer than 5 metres long or 2.5 metres wide or it breaks our planning restrictions.

WE HAVE A VERY FRIENDLY DOG, ARE THEY ALLOWED ON-SITE?

We love friendly dogs and welcome them on site, provided they are kept on a lead at all times in the camping fields and owners take full responsibility to clean up after them. Please also appreciate that while you may know your dog is a lovely friendly beast that wouldn’t hurt a fly, other campers may not see them that way so we ask you to be respectful towards their wishes.

Every dog that arrives on site is asked to come into the office and say hello and have a ‘tummy tickle test’. If the reception staff are happy with the dogs behaviour then it can stay. Obviously if your dog does not pass the test, or you do not think it would, then don’t bring it. We also ask that due to cleaning/ allergies we do not allow dogs inside any of our glamping options.

WHAT IS THE LATEST TIME WE CAN ARRIVE TO CHECK IN?

6pm on most days, Friday is later but we will need to be told what time if after 7pm. During the winter months, the latest you can check in is 5pm. If you are arriving after this then please be prepared to use wheelbarrows to transport your gear to the pitch (not too far, between 20-100 meters for most pitches).

We close the barrier to the fields to stop cars driving after dark so if you are outside and want in – wheelbarrow, and if you are inside and want out after dark – cars need to be moved to the parking at reception before 8pm.

Check out is at 11am the day you are leaving.

CAN WE GET TO WOWO ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

Yes! You can now reach us from anywhere in the UK by train, not by the usual boring train either but by a steam train! The Bluebell Railway has just expanded its line from here in Sheffield Park, all the way to East Grinstead which itself is connected by national rail to London Victoria.

This might be the coolest way to travel to a campsite anywhere in the country, even if steam does cost a bit more than electricity. Please visit the Directions page for more info.

CAN WE BOOK A GROUP?

Yes, this is one of the things we do best at Wowo. We can accommodate any groups of anywhere from 4 families to groups of 50 families.

We do not accept adult only groups, sorry no stag/ hen do’s (father/ son, mother/ daughter camping trips welcome).

We do not accept groups of young adults (we are a family campsite with young children). Please visit the Group Bookings page for more info.

WILL WE GET OUR OWN FIREPIT?

Yes we have enough fire pits for all groups staying with us to have their own. If you are camping with other families you will usually use the same fire pit or pitch to camp next to each other. All pitches have a fire pit, trivet to cook on (metal grill that sits over the fire) and benches to sit on.

WE CAN'T DECIDE WHERE TO CAMP!

You don’t need to decide until you arrive. After you have checked in, you can go for a stroll (not a drive) around the available pitches and choose the one you like the best. During busy check in times we have a day warden who will be around to help advise where to camp according to number of tents etc. Have a look at the Camping Areas page.

WILL WE BE ABLE TO CAMP WITH OUR FRIENDS?

Most certainly! All of our fire pits are spacious enough to be shared by up to four families, the first of you to arrive can choose one for all to share and let the others know when they arrive. If you will be more than 4 families, please let us know how many you are expecting on the ‘additional requests’ section of your booking so we can reserve you enough room. Any more than 8 families, please visit the Group Bookings page for more info.

CAN WE PLAY MUSIC?

We have a blanket ban on electronic music and car stereos. So please do not bring your iPod docks which play loud pop music into your neighbours ears. We have a large acoustic music scene here at Wowo especially Saturday nights where all campers can come and enjoy the free entertainment and free soup.

IS THERE AN AREA FOR BALL GAMES?

Most definitely yes! We have a huge variety of spaces for everyone to go and use for sports and good old fashioned fun. We have areas in Grassy Field as well as half of Lower Brook and Middle Brook as well as room outside your tent for a swing ball or badminton net. Please see our Camping Areas.

WHAT IS YOUR REFUND POLICY?

30 days notice or longer – 90% refunded. 15 – 29 days notice – 50% refunded.

14 days or less notice – No refund
